Hello, so lovely to meet you! I’m Laura Johansen, photographer and graphic artist behind Alaura Imagery & Design, and I take photos of beautiful stories. Servicing all areas of Los Angeles (and beyond!), my boutique portrait studio is based in the San Fernando Valley and specializes in creative and timeless family, newborn & maternity fine art portraiture and custom heirloom treasures. Your portrait session is valid for immediate family members only (Parents + up to three children). Please inquire if you’d like to add any additional family members.
Your winning portrait session is valid for family portraits only and cannot be exchanged for event photography. You may exchange your family portrait session for a studio newborn photography session instead, if you’d prefer.

Choosing your favourite portraits and how you'd like to keep them to cherish forever
The Prep: To help prepare for your family portrait session, we’ll have a consultation session either in person or over the phone to help choose the perfect location style to best represent your family’s story. I provide each of my clients with my style guide to help you pick out your wardrobe and accessories, as well as any special props you may like to incorporate, and a little questionnaire to help me get to know you better so we can create extra magic!
The Session: Whether our session together is indoors or outdoors, in the mountains or on the beach or anywhere in between, you're in for a wonderfully fun experience! We'll be taking a combination of naturally posed and lifestyle portraits of your family to best tell your story. - Group portraits, parents, kids, individual portraits, a special portrait of each person with Mom & Dad, and of course, lots of play time (silliness is always encouraged!), bringing to life those beautiful connections and relationships that only you have with each other. I don’t like to put a time limit on our sessions (as I want to capture you in your happy place, without having to worry about time constraints), but family sessions typically run for about 60 minutes. We’ll continue to shoot until we’re happy with what we’ve done!
The Pretty Portraits: Without a doubt, the most exciting part of our time together is creating and receiving your beautiful fine art wall, album and print portraiture (and watching your sweet slideshow of all the best photographs from our session come to life! - Don’t worry, I’ll have tissues!). I like to think about beginning with the end result in mind - Where would you like to view your treasured memories every day? The smiles, the giggles, the connection, the love, how would you like to have these beautiful moments remembered in 5 years? In 20 years? For your next generation? Envisioning how you might like to have & hold your portraits is a great beginning step in this exciting experience! And yes, I digitally archive your chosen portraits for you, and you get matching digital copies to keep, too.
Our Coveted Things: I am as passionate about my photography as I am in ensuring my clients have access to the finest-quality materials in presenting and preserving their family memories. When it comes down to it, there’s nothing more precious to invest in than you family’s legacy! From custom wall art pieces and beautifully crafted storybook albums, to little treasures and digital files (and your whole gallery buy-out), I’m with you at each step in styling and crafting the perfect way to tell you family story. Wall art pieces begin at $280, gift prints begin at $59 and collections begin at $495. Each collection includes at least one beautiful fine art wall piece, gift prints and extra digital images. You’ll have your $100 credit to use towards whatever you’d like to order, there’s no minimum or maximum to what you're welcome to own. Families typically choose to take home a combination of heirloom pieces and a few extra digital portraits. Your complete gallery buy-out is available, too! For all the beautiful lightly-edited digital photos, fun blooper shots included!
