Preparing For Your Reveal & Ordering Session

Hello there! It's time to see your portraits!

The Excitement!

So, we've had our gorgeous session together and captured some unbelievably stunning and meaningful memories for you and your family, it's now time to get together to view and select all your beautiful portraits! I like to think about beginning with the end result in mind - Where would you like to view your treasured memories every day? The smiles, the giggles, the connection, the love, how would you like to have these beautiful moments remembered in 5 years? In 20 years? For your next generation? Envisioning how you might like to have and hold your portraits is a great beginning step in this exciting experience! You can expect our Reveal & Ordering Session to take anywhere from 60+ minutes all together, so be sure to set aside adequate time.

The Experience

Truly the most magical part of our process, I have lovingly curated and lightly edited the best portraits from our session for you to view and select, all put together in a sweet slideshow to tell your story. (Don't worry, I'll have tissues on hand in case we need 'em! Watching your beautiful portraits and story come to life in a slideshow can even make me misty-eyed.) Once we've viewed all the portraits, it's time for you to select your favourites and choose how you'd like to display your images from our signature Alaura range of archival quality heirloom pieces, to showcase your beautiful artwork and keep your memories as forever treasures for your family. I've curated only the best pieces made from the finest elements around the world, some even hand-made and coming in from Italy and Ireland! There are plenty of samples available for you to view and feel and I'll be with you to help through each step of the process. I can even create sample wall galleries (using photos of your own walls from your home!), so you can get an exact idea of how your portraits will look when complete.

When you get a moment, I'd suggest taking a photo of a wall or two in your home where you might like to hang your portraits (cell phone photos are perfectly fine!). I'd suggest taping a regular sized piece of paper to the wall (any bill or mail item, with standard sized A4 paper or measuring 8.5x11") and then take a photo, so we can get an idea of the size and dimensions of the wall. It will help me custom design any wall grouping inspiration we may have, to help beautifully represent your portraits. The Selection & Ordering

You were given a credit at the beginning of your portrait booking, and now it's time to use that credit towards your choice of final portraits. Each of your final selections comes with Alaura Imagery & Design's fine art editing in my unique style just for you, complimentary archiving of all ordered portraits, plus a matching digital copy for you to keep. I have to stress though that while digital files are awesome for now, they are not considered archival at all and are designed to become corrupt over time. I can't tell you how many clients I've had through the years who have lost or accidentally deleted or corrupted their files and have had to re-order them. This is just one of the reasons why I love that each of my clients goes home with something tangible and of the finest archival quality, and why I'm so thrilled to be able to give my expert service in preserving your images archivally so you don't have to think or worry about the technological "what-ifs", knowing your portraits and memories are protected through the test of time.  A la carte signature products range from custom wall art (think archivally framed portraits, wood mounts, canvas, metal and acrylic options, all perfectly presented and ready to hang), stunning heirloom albums customly designed by me to preserve your story, and story folio boxes to hold a collection of fine art portrait memories. Wall art signature portraits begin at $280, story folio boxes and heirloom albums begin at $975, collections are available for each type of portrait session and there's no minimum or maximum to what you're welcome to own. Families typically choose to take home a combination of heirloom pieces and gift items. Once you've selected your signature custom pieces, you can choose to add-on further unique products and giftables (including retro viewmasters, gift prints, extra digital portraits and even your whole lightly-edited digital gallery, including the outtakes!).

Seeing as we'll be going through our process of viewing and decision making, I ask that only adults attend the Reveal & Ordering Session where possible (of course this does not apply to newborns!), and I ask that all decision makers be present for our appointment. You're welcome to invite other family members or friends to our appointment if they'll be ordering portrait pieces, too. You have your credit to use towards your final portraits, credits must be used at the time of your ordering appointment (your credit is only valid at the time of your ordering appointment and cannot be used for future orders), and I can take Venmo, Zelle, PayPal (friends option only), cash or check for any additional. All orders must be paid for at the time of our ordering session and all orders are final. Custom heirloom portraiture, presentation and preservation of your memories can be a lot of decision-making, and I'll be here for you every step of the way to ensure the process goes as smoothly and beautifully as possible, and to help you make the best selections for your family. The Forever Memory

A few weeks after our Reveal & Selection Session (usually somewhere around 4 weeks, depending on your order), I'll be in touch to let you know that your final portraits are ready for collection! Your portraits will be inspected, packaged up and beautifully presented, ready for you to hang and keep in your home, to love and treasure and gift to your friends and family. If you need any assistance in hanging your portraits, let me know and I can help organise professional installation.
